Memorial Weekend Slugfest 2008 Thursday, April 10 2008 Slugfest Opens May 22, 2008
(UPI) - The 2008 SLUGFEST Memorial Tournament will open on Thursday, May 22nd, at four hosting fields. This is the second year District 59 will sponsor this tournament event. The format for play has been changed to allow more games for each team entering the tournament. The twelve team tournament will use the Little League Pool Play format with a single elimination rounds to determine the champion. Each team will play a mininum of four games during Pool Play. There will be two Pools with the top four teams from each Pool entering the Single Elimination round.
The teams that have entered Slugfest include two teams from Evergreen LL, Eastridge LL, Milpitas South LL, and North Valley LL, with the remaining field consisting of one team from Alum Rock LL, Berryessa LL, East Hills LL, and Oarkridge LL. Good luck to all the players, managers, coaches, and team personnel.
Game play, Thursday and Friday, Milpitas South LL, North Valley LL, Eastridge LL, and Evergreen LL will host games at their fields, game time is 5:30. Saturday, all teams will play doubleheaders at North Valley or Milpitas South. The remainder of tournament (Single-Elimination rounds) will be hosted at Milpitas Sports Complex - Milpitas South's facility.
