Calculating batting averages for Little Leaguers the way they do for Major Leaguers doesn’t make sense.  The only “at-bats” that count for a MLB player’s average are singles, doubles, triples and homeruns.

Little League International Makes Change to Regulation VI (c)

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (March 14, 2007) – Little League International has made a change, effective immediately, to Regulation VI (c) as published in the 2007 Regulations and Playing Rules for all levels of baseball as noted here.

Managers and coaches sometimes organize this aspect their league’s year-end operations, but many times it falls to a team mom or some other adult volunteer.
